Kansas Medicaid with Healthy Blue

Healthy Blue offers health benefits to eligible kids and adults through KanCare, the Medicaid program in Kansas.

Benefits with Healthy Blue

Nothing is more important than keeping you and your family healthy. We offer the care you need, plus extra benefits just for people in our plan.

Get the care you need from a doctor you choose. We have thousands of doctors in our plan, including many specialists. And with 24-hour Nurse Help Line, you can get fast, free medical advice from a registered nurse anytime, day or night.
If you need to get care in the hospital, you’re covered. Benefits also include urgent and emergency care.
Your mental health is an important part of your whole health. We can help you find a provider or resources to care for the whole you.
If you are pregnant, all your pregnancy care, including labor and delivery, is included in your benefits. Your newborn baby’s care is also covered.
Prescriptions and many over-the-counter products are covered through your Medicaid plan when you go to a pharmacy that accepts Healthy Blue members.
One complete eye exam and one pair of glasses are covered for members 21 years and older each year. Eyeglasses, repairs, and exams as needed for members under 21, up to three pairs per calendar year.
  • Transportation services — rides to appointments, $75 rideshare gift card, $75 gas card, or up to $75 for car oil changes for members age 18 and older.
  • Eligible members can receive a smartphone that’s preloaded with health app and resources designed to help you quickly access care and to help stay healthy. Care coordinator authorization required.
  • $25 per quarter, per household, allowance to purchase over-the-counter or personal care items in store or online.
  • Healthy lifestyle aids: Members with a diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD), chronic heart failure (CHF), hypertension (HTN), or diabetes on file can select two healthy lifestyle aids each year, such as a digital scale, blood pressure cuff, or heart rate monitor.
  • Members with a diagnosis of asthma or COPD on file can choose two relief products each year from a custom catalog.
  • Digital Mental Health Toolkit: All members ages 13+ have unlimited access to the Emotional Well-Being online community which promotes behavioral health and wellness through instruction, coaching, goal setting, and monitoring.
  • Meditation app subscription: Any member age 13+ with a diagnosis of a behavioral health condition on file can receive an annual subscription to a meditation app.
  • Eligible members can receive up to $250 to have their home treated for pests or have their carpets cleaned to ease asthma triggers. Care coordinator authorization required.
  • Eligible FE, PD, and I/DD waiver members can select two home safety items from a custom catalog.
  • Members on the I/DD waiver can receive a dental desensitization kit to help reduce dental anxiety and stress.
  • Eligible members on the I/DD, Autism, and SED waivers, can receive a $100 gift card to purchase sensory products.
  • Baby Essentials: New moms can receive a $100 gift card to purchase essential baby items for completing a postpartum visit.
  • Eligible pregnant members can receive a $75 Healthy Grocery card to encourage a healthy diet during your pregnancy.
  • Eligible members, ages 5–18, can receive one $75 gift card to use toward membership fees at youth clubs each year.
  • Eligible members in foster care, ages 5–17, can choose between a Family Game Night, a Family Movie Night, or a Family Dinner Night package.
  • Eligible members in foster care, from birth to age 17, can receive one $50 gift card per member annually to help purchase clothing.
  • Job Connections program that includes support, such as employment assistance — Healthy Blue will help cover the cost of certain industry certifications and offer assistance to purchase required trade tools for on the job.
  • Members receive access to the Community Resource Link, an online resource designed to connect Kansas members with local community-based programs, benefits, and services.
  • Eligible members currently enrolled in the 12th grade and plan to attend a university, college, community college, or trade school within the next year can receive up to $75 in gift cards to use toward textbooks or dorm room items.
  • Substance use disorder recovery support for members enrolled in case management.

How to join Healthy Blue

Apply for KanCare

You can apply for benefits at any time. Enrollment is year-round.

Visit the KanCare website to check your eligibility and apply for benefits online. Don’t want to apply online? Call 800-792-4884 to apply by phone.

On your application, you can choose Healthy Blue as your health plan.

After you are approved for benefits, you’ll be assigned to the health plan that you selected on your application. You have up to 90 days to change your health plan.

Change your health plan during open enrollment

You can change your health plan each year in your open enrollment period. There are three ways to change your plan:
